Patch Testing

Why You Need a Colourstart Patch Test Before Your Hair Colour Appointment

At Lotus Hair Restoration your safety is our top priority, especially when it comes to hair colour services. Whether you’re looking to refresh your look with a bold new colour or simply maintain your current shade, a patch test is an essential step before any colour treatment.

We proudly use Colourstart the industry-leading, clinically-proven patch test for allergic reactions to hair dyes. Here’s everything you need to know about why this test is crucial and how it works.

WHY DO YOU NEED A PATCH TEST?
Hair colour contains certain chemicals, like PPD (para-phenylenediamine), which can cause allergic reactions in some people. Even if you’ve coloured your hair before without any problems, sensitivities can develop over time, making a patch test vital before every colour service. An allergic reaction can cause anything from mild irritation to severe swelling, itching, or even anaphylaxis, so it’s better to be safe than sorry.

WHAT IS COLOURSTART?
Colourstart is a convenient and easy-to-use patch test that helps identify whether you're allergic to ingredients commonly found in hair dye. Unlike traditional patch tests, which require you to visit the salon, Colourstart allows you to take the test at home before your appointment. It’s fast, efficient, and highly accurate.

KEEPING YOU SAFE AND STYLISH
We want you to enjoy your hair transformation without any health risks, and Colourstart helps us ensure that. By taking this simple test, you can rest assured that your colour service will be as safe as it is stunning.

BOOK YOUR PATCH TEST TODAY!
If you're booking a colour service with us, make sure to arrange for your Colourstart patch test at least 7 days before your appointment. It's a quick and easy way to protect your health and ensure your hair colouring experience is nothing but fabulous.

How Does the Colourstart Patch Test Work?

Order

We will provide you with a Colourstart patch to apply at home, or you can learn more and order directly at https://colourscreen.me/

Apply

The patch is placed on the skin (typically your upper arm) and left in place for 48 hours. It's important to avoid getting the patch wet during this time.

Check for a Reaction

After 48 hours, check the patch area. If there is any redness, itching, or irritation, it indicates a potential allergic reaction, and we can discuss alternative colour options.

Results

If there is no reaction, you’re good to go for your colour appointment.
